Columbia Restaurant – The Biggest Spanish Restaurant in The World
When your cruise ship docks in the Port of Tampa, don’t miss the chance of dining in this legendary Spanish restaurant located in the historic Ybor City. Cuban Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Florida that was first opened in 1905 by Cuban immigrant, Casimiro Hernandez, Sr. Occupying an area of 52,000 square feet with seating for up to 1,700 people, this is also the biggest Spanish restaurant in the world. So this is more than just a restaurant, it’s a landmark, an icon and part of the history of the city.
When it was first opened in 1905, it was just a small 60-seat corner cafe where local cigar workers use to relax after work to enjoy its Cuban coffee and authentic Cuban sandwiches. In 1919 the owner took over the restaurant next door and expanded the Columbian Restaurant, and since then the restaurant just got bigger and bigger. When Casimiro Jr. took over the restaurant after the death of his father, he began to work on his vision to create an elegant restaurant with a charming dining room as well as live entertainment of music and dancing. The Columbia Restaurant as we can see today is the realization of that vision. Today this restaurant is still owned and operated by the Hernandez family.
The menu will spoil you with lots of great choices of cocktails, wine, soups, salads, appetizers, seafood, steaks, desserts and even cigars. From margarita to Chardonnay, Spanish Bean Soup to Classic Caesar Salad, Pincho Mixta Grilled Salmon, Fillet Mignon to Chicken and Shrimp Barcelona, This restaurant is offering a guaranteed satisfaction for your taste buds and your mood. With high quality food, great service, fantastic atmosphere and entertainment, dining in Columbia Restaurant will be an unforgettable memory when you’re in Tampa.
